Eating for Fast Weight Loss: 5 Proven Ways to Look and Feel Great Through Diet

Sunday, June 22nd, 2008

By Jamie Clark Are you interested in fast weight loss, more energy, and a better-looking body? No matter what anyone tries to tell you about losing weight quickly, remember this: what and how you eat is 80% of the solution. Forget the “fat-burning” pills, fitness gadgets, and extreme workouts — fast, healthy weight loss can only be achieved through “smart” eating. With that in mind, here are 5 proven diet guidelines for dropping body fat, boosting your energy, and looking great fast: 1. Learn to limit or avoid processed carbs. Almost anything not found in nature is going to hinder your weight loss progress. To change your body quickly, you really need to focus on eating only natural “good” carbs, such as: fresh or frozen vegetables, fresh fruits, sweet potatoes, lentils, dried beans, oatmeal, whole-grain rice, etc. (Note: Avoid breads and cereals as much as possible — even whole-grain versions — when trying to lose weight quickly.) 2. Never let yourself get hungry. For most people, that means eating a large, healthy breakfast and then eating (or “snacking”) every 3 hours throughout the day. Self-discipline and willpower will only take you so far. If you never get hungry you won’t need to fight the urge to eat high-fat, high-sugar food as often. 3. Keep healthy food with you at all times. Consider keeping a small cooler in your car filled with healthy meals and snacks. Good “fat loss friendly” snacks include things like: fresh veggies with low-calorie dip, fresh fruits, raw or roasted nuts and seeds, beef jerky, hard-boiled eggs, low-fat cheeses, olives, lean cold cut meats, etc. 4. Protein is vital. If fast weight loss is your goal, make protein the “center” of your diet. Try to include some protein in most, if not all, of your meals and snacks. A high-protein diet speeds fat loss by boosting your metabolism and controlling blood sugar and insulin levels. Also, eating protein every few hours will help keep your energy levels stable and minimize hunger cravings. Good protein choices include: poultry, lean beef, fish, eggs, nuts, seeds, cottage cheese, and whey protein powder. 5. “Healthy” salads can really help. To lose weight as quickly as possible, try to eat at least 1 or 2 “healthy” salads per day. A “healthy” salad is one that contains only fresh lettuce, vegetables, fruits, and good fats. Adding meats and cheeses is ok as long as they’re of the low-fat variety. Stay away from high-fat and/or high-sugar salad dressings, as well as fatty cheeses and fried or high-fat meats. The best salad dressing for fast weight loss is probably virgin olive oil mixed with apple cider vinegar. Both of these substances are ultra-healthy and may help to boost body fat loss. Best Car Loan Rates - Prime Lenders vs. Sub Prime Auto Lenders

Thursday, June 19th, 2008

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Carrie_Reeder]Carrie Reeder The best car loan rates are out there if you search for them. Based on your credit past, you may find either a prime or sub prime auto lender is your best choice. The surest way to find the answer is to request free online loan quotes to narrow your choices. The Differences Between Prime and Sub Prime Lenders Prime and sub prime lenders differ in the types of loans they offer. Prime lenders offer A loans to those with credit scores of 650 or higher. Sub prime lenders provide loans to everyone else. Sometimes though, financing companies offer both types of financing. Sub prime loans have higher rates and fees since the risk is higher for lenders. Reasonable lenders will only charge a couple of points higher for most types of loans. Who Has The Best Rates? The only way to find who has the best rates is to do your own comparison shopping. Depending on your credit score, you may be surprised who can offer you the most competitive package. As important as low rates are, fees should also be considered. Fortunately the government made comparison shopping easy by requiring lenders to disclose the APR of any loan. The APR includes both closing costs and rates. Find The Right Lender You should start your car loan shopping online, not at the dealership. There are too many incentives for the salespeople for you to be sure you are getting the best deal. Start with a car loan broker site that brings many lenders together. You can quickly access free quotes from there. Then follow up with other lenders. And dont give permission for a lender to access your credit report unless you are pretty sure you want to go with their offer. Otherwise, you will find that multiple credit inquires will lower your score and hurt your loan application. While there are no instant solutions to finding the best auto loan rates, online sites do make it faster. A couple of hours spent securing your vehicle financing will both save you money and make the car buying process easier. 6 Ways to Prevent Holiday Weight Gain

Sunday, June 15th, 2008

By Craig Ballantyne Obesity has worldwide problem. In fact, almost 2/3 of Americans need to lose weight and over 1 billion people in the world are overweight. If you are overweight, you need to lose weight and improve your health and fitness. And yes, this can still be done over the holiday season. Don’t wait for New Year’s day to start your weight loss resolutions. There are a number of reasons for the increased incidence of obesity and overweight individuals, as suggested by American statistics, but also a number of workout and nutrition tips that can counter the effects of each bad nutrition and exercise habit that we have: * It has been estimated that for every high-sugar drink you consume, you increase your risk of obesity by 60%! Soft drinks provide 33% of all added sugars in American diets. Tip #1: Avoid drinking calories! * In the USA, sugar consumption has increased from 26 to 32 teaspoons (between the 1970s and 1998). * Americans eat an extra 150 kcal per day now in comparison to 1980. In theory, this could lead to 15 lbs. of weight gain per year! Tip #2: Avoid over-eating treats at parties. If you can’t have just one, don’t have any at all! * Your obesity risk increases 6-fold if you watch more than 2 hours of television each day. Tip #3: Stay active. Walk around the mall a couple extra times if it means you’ll avoid the couch and overeating at home. Stay busy, stay active, stay lean. * Only 25% of individuals exercise moderately for 30 minutes each day, whereas 25% of the population does no exercise at all. Tip #4: It’s not all or nothing. If you can only do 15 minutes of exercise, that is still better than nothing. Don’t stop all exercise just because you can’t do 30 minutes that day. * Obesity continues to increase in the USA despite a continued decrease in the consumption of dietary fat. In 1994-96, fat accounted for 33% of total calories compared with 40% in the late 1970’s. * In 1994-96, just over half of the population reported eating fruit each day while the consumption of processed carbohydrates (such as bread, snack foods, and cereals) has increased 110% since the late 1970’s. Tip #5: Avoid processed carbs. Hit the veggie tray, the protein offerings, and the calorie free beverages at parties. If its rolled in pastry, don’t eat it. * Milk consumption has decreased in children by 16% since the late 1970’s, while consumption of soft drinks increased by 16%. Tip #6: Don’t keep soda in the house. If you don’t buy it, neither you nor the kids will drink it. Stick to these 6 simle tips and you’ll stay lean over the holidays. Add in a little more exercise and you could do the impossible - lose fat over the holidays! Understanding Your Skin

Sunday, June 1st, 2008

By Ricardo Silva The skin care industry is an extremely lucrative one. That being said, some products are better than others. Understanding your skin is the key to determining which are best for you. The skin on our body may seem like a fairly simple anatomical feature, but it is not. The skin plays a key role in both protecting us and facilitating energy exchange. Specifically, our skin regulates the temperature of our body through sweating, acts as a barrier to nasty little bacteria such as staph, and is one giant sensory input for our brain. Taking care of your skin involves an understanding of what exactly it is. The skin is composed of three levels of tissue. The top layer that you see when you look at your body is known as the epidermis. The lay underneath the epidermis is known as the dermis and is made up of elastic fibers and collagen which form the structure of the skin. The third layer is subcutaneous area that connects our skin to the body and is made up of fat and larger blood vessels. The epidermis is probably the most misunderstood layer of the skin. More than a few skin care products promise to make improvements to the epidermis. This is somewhat misleading for a fundamental reason. The layer of epidermis on our skin sheds completely off our body every two weeks or so. New material from dermis replaces this layer. Given this biological process, long-term skin care is best approached by treating the dermis. Temporary treatments of the epidermis can make temporary changes, but they will not last. In truth, most skin care products actually treat the dermis, but dont state as much since most consumers will be confused. When your skin begins to look aged or worn, the epidermis is not the problem. Instead, the dermis, the second layer of skin, is being damaged. The damage occurs when the collagen in the dermis begins to breakdown. When this occurs, the tightness and pigment of the skin begins to fluctuate as collage is replaced by elastic, ropey material. As is often the case with the body, there are tried and true ways for improving the appearance of your skin. If you smoke, stop. If you are out in the sun a significant amount of time, make sure to use strong sun block. Looking to products, stick to those that address dermal issues. If all else fails, collagen injections can provide localized results. Ricardo de Silva is with PlasticSurgeonPractices.com - a directory of plastic surgeons.
