Factoring vs. Bank Loans

Thursday, August 30th, 2007

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Afra_AmirSanjari]Afra AmirSanjari Is factoring a type of loan? No. Even though invoice factoring is commonly referred to as factoring loans, it is a financial practice involving a B2B transaction, but no bank. To further explain, account factoring, it is when a company, like Peacock Capital, purchases your accounts receivable invoices at a discount and provides you with immediate cash. A traditional bank loan uses your companys accounts receivable as collateral, where account receivables factoring looks primarily at the financialsoundness of your customers, not your company. Banks are regulated heavily; large finance companies generally are public and driven by pressures in the financial markets. When times are tough, banks and finance companies limit lending. A small business, too new to have a track record, with a weak balance sheet, with a history of financial problems, in turnaround mode or undergoing big changes, often cannot find a willing lender at any price. That is why factoring is best for small to mid-sized businesses. Does a bank loan make more sense for my small business than invoice factoring? No. Banks often have restrictive lending requirements relating to cash flow, profitability, equity, and years in business, which prohibit them from makingloans to small to mid-sized businesses. Since factoring companies are notin the lending business and there is really no such thing as factoring loans, the decision to purchase invoices is influenced primarily by the quality of yourcustomer base and their financial stability, and not the financial fundamentals of your company. Do I have to jump through the same hoops for account receivables Factoring as with bank financing? No. All Peacock Capital needs to produce a proposal is a completed pre-approval form, summary of accounts receivable aging, summary accounts payable aging and some other basic financial information. Do I have to be an established business operating a minimum number of years to start an account factoring relationship with Peacock Capital? No. Peacock Capital prides itself on working with companies in all stages of business, including recently developed small to mid-size businesses. Even pure start-ups are usually not a problem for Peacock Capital. If your company has verifiable invoices and creditworthy customers, Peacock Capital will happily speak with you about an account receivables factoring relationship. Are my receivables held as collateral while my company is factoring? Yes. Peacock Capital requires a first position on all accounts receivable while youare factoring with us. Does Peacock Capital require additional collateral when my company is factoring? No. Within our traditional account factoring programs, a first position on accounts receivable is all that Peacock Capital requires while you are factoring. In some situations, Peacock Capital may take an available security interest in other companys assets. Afra AmirSanjari is the Principal for Peacock Capital. Peacock Capital specializes in solving the cash flow challenges of Small/Medium Businesses, Government Vendors and Individuals with innovative financial solutions by providing a network for securing operating capital. The Fisherman Or The Fish: Who’s Really In Control?

Wednesday, August 29th, 2007

By Trevor Kugler So there we were. Doug and I, on our favorite river, the Swan River, for a day of fishing. It was a beautiful day, not a cloud in the sky and about eighty degrees. It was the kind of day you dream about for river fishing. The gang hooks were tied, the bait bags were stocked with our favorite live bait (worms), and everything was pointing towards a perfect day fishing. As a matter of fact, about 10 minutes after we arrived at the first fishable stretch of river, I heard Doug yell, “Fish on!” He fought and landed the nice eighteen inch Rainbow Trout with ease, then followed that up with another one. Oh yea, back to back fish. This was going to be a good day. We continued to fish for the next hour or so, both landing multiple fish that were around eighteen inches. They were all very nice trout, but after catching three or four fish that size on ultra light fishing gear, you get lulled into a sort of trance. You start to think that this dream is never going to end. This is how trout work. They try to lull you into a false sense of security, then BAM, they yank, you right back to reality. It’s almost as if you’re the one being fooled. So we wade to the head of a nice pool and the only way to fish it from where we were was to fish directly below ourselves into the deeper water. It was a strange scenario, to be sure. Under normal circumstances I would never fish a hole in this fashion, but under these circumstances, there was no other way. There was also a fallen tree on the left side of the hole, which extended all of the way into the deeper water. In hindsight, the conditions definitely favored any fish that might be swimming in that hole. That didn’t seem to matter though, because after fishing for about twenty minutes Doug began his move to the next hole. And I was just about to make the same move when I felt a pull on my line. I, of course, set the hook and the fight began. Now mind you, thirty minutes earlier I had caught and released two or three eighteen to twenty inch Rainbow trout. And that is exactly what this fish felt like for the first minute or two. Another nice trout. Then after five or six minutes of routine fighting, something happened. All of the sudden the fish stopped. I couldn’t budge it. It was as if I were suddenly snagged on a rock. So, this of course meant that I had to begin to get upset. I started moving my rod to different angles, pulling with varying degrees of pressure, and all in all just trying no get myself unstuck from what I thought was the bottom. And of course during all of this the profanities were flying about the fact that the fish had “hung me up”. So I waded to my left along where the fallen tree was, reeling in line as I went. I was looking into the water with my polarized glasses on as I waded, until my line was pretty much vertical to where I was standing. As I looked into the deeper water where my line was I saw a very disturbing sight. There, probably four feet deep was a very large rainbow trout on the end of my line! It didn’t look be a lot longer than the eighteen to twenty inch rainbows that we had been catching all day, but this monster had to be twice as wide. I saw nothing but a huge red stripe glistening in the sun. My heart skipped a beat as I tried to grab a hold of my composer, and then…..Snap! The line broke. I suppose there is no need to go into the tantrum that ensued, but let me say that it would have made the worst two year old in the world seem like an angel. There’s no way to tell exactly how big that trout was, but after seeing it, it was easily the biggest I had ever had a hold of to that point in my fishing career. It was as wide a trout as I had ever seen, other than in books and magazines. I was not happy with myself to say the least, but after the initial mental anguish wore off, I did learn something. Something that helped me to actually land the largest rainbow trout that I ever have one short year later. That fish did the same thing. It got itself sideways in the current and I couldn’t budge it. But this time I just waited it out, keeping my line tight the entire time, and not trying to “horse” the fish. Eventually the trout got tired, and I was able to land it. So that’s the lesson that I learned and I’m sharing with anyone who reads this article. Big trout can get themselves sideways in the current and make it feel as if they are snagged under a rock or something. If you wait them out, while keeping pressure on them, they will eventually get tired and begin to move again. By the way, that’s usually straight downstream. How To Get Cellular Phone Wallpaper Downloads

Monday, August 27th, 2007

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Neil_Day]Neil Day Cell phones used to be pretty basic. They all looked alike. They all did the same thing - send and receive calls. But, as technology on phones moves forward, people are finding it much easier to personalize their phones and make them stand out as unique devices. One such method for personalization involves the use of cellular phone wallpaper. Cellular phone wallpaper is simply an image that appears on the phone either all the time, when it rings or when calls are sent. Some phone enable the use of multiple wallpaper images, while others will only accept and store a single one. Either way this trend gives users an ability to make their phones more personally pleasing to their owners. Using cellular phone wallpaper downloads won’t be something every phone on the market will allow, however. If a phone isn’t capable of displaying graphic images, it likely won’t have a variety of wallpaper images for use. Digital phones that offer camera features and 3D games, however, are generally very wallpaper friendly. Getting cellular phone wallpaper to use on a phone that’s graphics capable is fairly simple. Most cell phone service providers offer access to hundreds of different wallpaper styles that can be downloaded for little or no expense. Those with cell phone cameras can often even create their own wallpaper by taking a shot and storing it as the standard wallpaper. There are even companies that specialize in nothing more than cell phone downloads, such as wallpaper. Some phones enable the use of multiple images, but it will be up to the user to figure out if their phone can do this or not. If it can, cellular phone wallpaper can be set to display a different image for each regular caller. All it takes is picking the image and a fairly basic programming sequence. The personalization is often used by people with cell phone cameras to display pictures of the callers each time they call. Cellular phone wallpaper is an extra on most service plans, but it’s one that many consumers enjoy very much. These little extra images give users a kick, can make them smile during a bad day and are just a great way to make a cold, impersonal phone something special. These combined with other downloads, such as music, games, and videos, are making people’s cell phones become valued devices for personal entertainment and communication combined. To find out if a phone is cellular phone wallpaper capable, check with your service provider and examine the phone’s graphic abilities. Those that display in full color generally are. Basic two tone screens typically are not. Phones that can handle downloads can actually download them over the phone in most cases by accessing the phone’s web browser. It’s a fairly simple process. Cellular phone wallpaper is an extra, but it’s one that many phone users enjoy very much. As the trend develops, the possibilities for personalization are almost endless. Meet the Parents

Saturday, August 25th, 2007

By Daryl Campbell If you have not met her parents yet, the chances are you will this holiday season. It is a big step. Women value their family relationships and wanting you to meet her parents may be more about getting their opinions on you as it is about making a serious commitment. Do your homework. Ask your girlfriend plenty of questions about her parents before the initial meeting. This way you can avoid anything that might be a touchy subject and also brush up on topics that are of interest to them. An extra bonus to doing this is that your girlfriend will be flattered you are showing an interest in her parents before you even meet them. Just a few tidbits of personal information before the initial get together can go a long way. Dress appropriately. A sloppy appearance may be damaging to your potential relationship with her parents. They may be insulted even before you open your mouth. Failing to take care in your appearance is a sign of disrespect to many people so exercise caution and dress nicely. First impressions count. Bring an appropriate gift. A little bribery never hurt but do not go overboard otherwise they may think you are trying to rent their affection. Ask your girlfriend what they like orgo with the old standby and bring flowers. It is always welcome and very appropriate. A small gift can help you get the relationship off on the right foot. Avoid controversial subjects. In general you should steer clear of any talk concerning religion, politics and sex .The last thing that you want to do is to spend your first meeting debating hot button issues. Yes, this may be an activity you normally enjoy, but getting involved in a heated debate with your girlfriends parents is definitely not a good idea. Keep the conversation light..Try not to be too affectionate. While she may be a grown woman, she is also their daughter. Many parents would not be comfortable with overt displays of affection. Too much can send the wrong message and put them on guard against you. If your girlfriend senses tension between you and her parents it could severely damage the relationship. It is likely that your girlfriend will be influenced by her parents opinions so it would not be too hard for them to send her subtle signals that they do not think you are right forher. Create a good first impression and do not give them any reason not to like you. Establishing a good relationship with the parents can only benefit you and your girlfriend. Creating Rubber Stamps: Not All Methods Created Equal (Part 3 of 3)

Friday, August 24th, 2007

By Gwendolyn Lee Welcome back to Creating Rubber Stamps: Not All Methods Created Equal. In parts one and two of this three-part series, the advantages and disadvantages of the laser-engraving and photopolymer rubber stamp-making processes were discussed. In this final installment, you will learn how to make custom rubber stamps and art stamps from the comfort of your very own home! When making stamps at home, a chemical or non-chemical process can be used. Whether chemical or non-chemical, for homemade rubber stamps and art stamps, a flat eraser will become the artists palette. To use a non-chemical process, take a pen and outline on the stamp the image to be etched. Using a sharp item, such as a box cutter, steak knife or linoleum cutter, etch away the non-inked eraser so that all that is left is the raised image that the rubber stamp will impress. If you are not confident in your drawing skills, you may want to use a piece of tracing paper and trace the image you would to place on the rubber stamp. Once the image has been traced, flip over the tracing paper and rub the outline onto the stamp. A pin, fork, or other hard surface can also be used to make indentations of the traced surface. This may not give the most precise image; however, it will provide some guidance for artistically-challenged individuals. If more precise guidance than tracing paper is preferred, a chemical process can also be used. First, a clear black-and-white photocopy of the image will be needed. Wet the image with acetone using a cotton swab or ball, and press the dark side of the image on the eraser. As acetone is highly flammable and may irritate skin, stay in a well-ventilated area and make as little contact with the chemical as possible. Remove the paper from the eraser; the ink will have transferred to the rubber eraser. Using the box or linoleum cutter, carve away the non-inked areas of the eraser; this will create a rubber stamp out of the raised surfaces. After the rubber stamp has been carved, you may want to mount it on a piece of wood or other hard surface. This will promote the longevity of the stamp and keep it from suffering too much wear and tear while stamping. Mounting the eraser will also help the user to stay away from the ink while stamping. Another advantage of using a mounted stamp is the guarantee of a hard surface and quality impression with every imprint. Although making a stamp by hand is an attractive option, it requires extensive hand-customization and allows little room for error. If the carver makes a mistake, they must adjust the image for the mistake or, in a worst-case scenario, start completely over. In addition to the extensive time required, there are also costs that must be incurred for each stamp created. For example, to create a 1 x 1 wooden-mounted stamp, the costs would be approximately: $0.75 1 x 1 wood block $0.50 rubber eraser $6.00 Small utility knife and/or linoleum cutter $2.00 acetone $9.25 TOTAL In comparison, the average cost for a 1 x 1 stamp online is $4.00-$6.00. While the carving tools and acetone may last for quite a while, the other costs, lack of precision and hassle-factors may prove incentive enough to purchase stamps from an online or retail store. Whether youre laser-engraving, creating photopolymer molds, carving rubber stamps by hand or shopping for rubber stamps online, take the knowledge from this three-part series to make your decision! If you are looking for the precision of laser-engraving, the economy of photopolymer, or the homemade look of erasers, each stamp-making method has something to offer. Remember that, when it comes to art stamp and rubber stamp customization, the possibilities are endless! Wedding Invitation: How to Save Money on the Invitation of Your Choice

Wednesday, August 22nd, 2007

By Eriani Doyel The wedding invitation that you choose will make a reflection on the people that you send it to. It will say something about the way that you feel about this special event and how you feel about them. But, with all of the other expenses for a wedding, you may be concerned about the cost of getting a nice wedding invitation. If this is the case, there are options available to you so that you can get a great price on a wedding invitation that reflects your personal taste and style. You can design and print your own invitations or you can go to a discount printer or stationery business. Although etiquette dictates that a wedding invitation contains certain features and information, the bride and groom are free to express themselves in the color, design and even wording. This is what makes designing your own wedding invitation so appealing. You can choose to work with a local print shop or stationery store, or you can find a site on the internet which will allow you to pick and choose every thing from the type of paper to the color of the ink. Make sure that you are able to examine the paper and see samples of the printing before you choose any printer. If you have access to a high quality printer, you may be able to print your own wedding invitation, but the cost of having the discount printer do it may be worth the reduced hassle. Online you can also find many businesses offering discounted invitations, and virtually all of them will send you free samples so that you can get a look at their work before you make a purchase. The weight of the paper and the quality of the printing are the key things to look for as well as the number of selections available for customization. Make sure that you begin your selection process as early as possible so that you can have time to think about the wording as well as the design and allow room for errors to be corrected if that is necessary. Gardeners Mantra

Monday, August 20th, 2007

By Shane Cooper How many times have you planted a new plant, tree or bush hoping for a fully developed plant in no time? Many gardeners both seasoned and new love to see the fruits of their labor. However, many gardeners are impatient and wish for fast growth on short oder. For those that get frustrated waiting for that favored plant, tree of bush to take off, they often find themselves pulling up the plant, taking it back to their favorite nursery or throwing it away only to start over thinking theyve done something to kill it or stunt its growth when often times, this isnt the case. Whats a gardener to do? Many who are trying to start a new area or add to an existing have to follow the gardeners mantra regardless of region or location in the country. While different locals offer different planting seasons and plant types that thrive in their respective area, all plants need a little time to get established and take off. Its well known that all gardening and landscape work is based upon seasons and so is the growth potential for any plant, tree or bush. So, what is the gardeners mantra? Three steps to every plants success is this. First year SLEEP, second year CREEP and the third year LEAP. Its that simple of a statement which basically says, youll need patience. Stage One: First Year SLEEP All plants, trees and shrubs initially go into a shocked state upon initial planting into a new location. Like any living organism, its ability to try and survive is innate and any plant has techniques to insure it lives on to produce. So, while a good gardener does everything possible to help the process through root stimulator and nutrients, the plant still has to go into a somewhat dormant state before getting fully established. For the first year in a new garden, expect only to see the plant in the state that you planted it. Any leaves or flowers will look exactly like it did when you first took it out of the bucket and put it in the ground. Stage Two: Second Year CREEP Once the plant, tree or shrub makes it through the first cold season of fall and winter, its ready to start to change. The second year is when it starts to work on its foundation system, roots. This second year, more work is being done below ground to insure that future growth can be maintained and its feeding system is in tact. Second year growth on exposed plant material will be limited and therefore why it looks like its not doing much. It then creeps along on growth and takes its time getting use to its surroundings and environment. Stage Three: Third Year LEAP This is the year the gardener is rewarded with all of the hard work. Now that the plant, tree or shrub is established and has a strong foundation, it will literally leap into a major growth spurt. Knowing that all water and nutrients will make it to its extremities, it will flourish beyond your expectations and begin to bring forth the expected shade or flower to please the gardener who so painstakingly helped it along. This is the good year as well as many good years to come. Every plants life cycle has great potential, but the third year and beyond is the time when every gardener gets the reward of the plant, tree or shrub they were expecting. Patience and time is the sub-mantra of the prepared gardener, but the main mantra every gardener should adopt is: First Year SLEEP, Second Year CREEP and Third Year LEAP! Are You Sure God Is Listening To You?

Monday, August 20th, 2007

By Joe Vigliano There are few things as important to a Christian as an active prayer life. Its really the key to our relationship with God. There are several things you can do to improve your prayer life, no matter what it looks like right now. You need to make and then take the time to pray, often easier said than done. Dealing with distractions is a continuing challenge, both earthly distractions and spiritual distractions. Having variety in your prayer life will keep your interest high. And, of course, you need to practice, practice, practice. With the tips Ill share, you can have the kind of prayer life that lets you be sure that God is listening to you. One of the biggest obstacles we all face in our prayer life is time. There are so many demands on our time, its all too easy to let prayer slide down the list. After all, God doesnt stand inside the front door, arms crossed, tapping His foot impatiently. Our spouse might. Or our children. We need to remember that our modelJesusalways took time for prayer, even if it meant leaving others behind for a while. Prayer should be at the permanent top of our to do list each and every day. Often, when weve set aside time for prayer, distractions get in the way. There are earthly distractions, to be sure. The ringing telephone, the knock on the door, the silent presence of email. Treating prayer time like the most important appointment on our calendar each day makes it easy to let the other things wait. The earth will continue to turn. A more insidious distraction is spiritual. The enemy would prefer that we dont spend time with God. Whispering in our ear, hell elevate the importance of any distraction that comes to mind. He has even been known to cause things like a suddenly leaky faucet or squeaking chair that just has to be fixed right then and there. Use prayer to keep him at bay. Recognize his tricks and lies for what they areattempts to keep you from spending time with your Heavenly Father. I cant say for sure how God feels on the receiving end, but I do know that repeating the same prayer in the same way day after day gets a bit monotonous. And therefore easy to skip. There are a variety of types of prayerpraise, thanksgiving, confession, supplication and meditative. And there are several styles of prayer that can be applied to the various typesformal, conversational, devotional, walking and spontaneous. Add more types and styles of prayer to your prayer life and watch your passion for prayer grow. When I say practice, I dont mean in the sense of improving our performance. God hears even the clumsiest attempts at prayer, listening not to our words but to whats in our heart. By practice I mean doing it, like a doctor or lawyer practices in their field. Not to get better, although thats certainly a by-product. But just to do it. Over and over again, day after day, week after week. To be sure God is listening to you, all you need to do is pray. Hell be there. You need to make the time, eliminate the distractions, learn a variety of different ways to pray and then continue to practice. These tips will go a long way to ensuring that you have a robust prayer life and that God is, in fact, listening to you. An vibrant, meaningful relationship with God–speaking to Him and hearing from Him–begins with prayer. Joe Vigliano has written about the various types, styles, and methods of effective prayer. Devotional Thought - Currents

Saturday, August 18th, 2007

By Faithe Thomas Have you ever been looking through the ads in Sundays paper or the windows in the mall and seen something you absolutely had to have? I have. Whatever that object is, my heart becomes set on obtaining it. Ill save my money, look for the lowest price, and finally purchase it. I am amazed at how committed I am at times to possessing that object. As though driven by a rushing current, my heart is carried along until the item is bought. And then the satisfaction doesnt even last long!! That driving current is not always toward a material object. Sometimes it flows toward an action. Have you ever quit a job? Remember that feeling of resolution, the feeling of determination that nothing can stop, once you had decided in your mind to quit? The action of quitting could not be denied once you set your heart on resigning. God made each one of us with that river of commitment. Sometimes that current takes me in good and godly directions, but not always. When my heart is set on the Lord and His word, that river moves me along His paths and in His will. When I allow my heart to be set on anything other than the Lord, I become carried away by pursuits that offer temporary satisfaction. Where is my heart set? How strong is my commitment to the Lord? Does it drive me to spend time with Him? I am reminded of Ezra in the Old Testament. He had found the secret of staying in those currents which led to God. The good hand of God was upon him, for Ezra had set his heart to study the law of Adonai and to practice it and to teach His statutes and ordinances in Israel.
